About this Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to Apogia, a content growth tool that helps streamers turn their streams into discoverable short-form content, available at apogia.app. It describes how Apogia ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you create an account, connect your streaming or social accounts, or otherwise use the Apogia service.
1. Data We Collect
When you use Apogia, we collect information you provide when creating an account (email, name), usage data (videos uploaded, clips generated), and technical data (IP address, browser type). When you connect a third-party account (such as Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, or Discord), Apogia receives the data those platforms make available under the scopes you authorize. Video content is processed temporarily and deleted after clips are generated and delivered.
2. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used to operate and improve Apogia, process your videos, manage your account, send transactional emails, and analyze usage patterns to improve the platform. Apogia does not sell your personal data to third parties and does not use content from your connected accounts for advertising.
3. How your videos are analyzed and which models are used
To spot the moments in a stream, Apogia analyzes the transcript, the audio, the visuals and the on-screen activity. Transcription and the audio and video analysis rely on open models we run in our own containers, on GPUs rented from RunPod in European data centers, which acts as a processor: it receives the video for the analysis and for rendering the clips, without keeping it durably. For semantic analysis and ranking of the moments, transcript excerpts, scores, the titles of your markers and chapters, and the profile you declared (content types, target platforms) are sent to Mistral AI, a French company acting as a processor under its data processing terms. The use of that data to train Mistral's models is turned off on our account, and Mistral keeps it for at most 30 days for abuse monitoring. Neither your account identifier nor your channel name is sent to Mistral AI. Apogia does not use your videos, transcripts or clips to train models or to build training datasets. Only scores, with no video and no text, may be kept to improve detection. The suggested moments are suggestions: you decide what becomes a clip and what gets published.
4. Communications and featuring your clips
Two processing activities rest on your consent, and on nothing else. You switch them on and off from Settings → Privacy. They are off by default, independent of one another, and declining them changes nothing about your access to the service or its price. Featuring your clips. If you allow it, Apogia may repost, on its own accounts (TikTok, Instagram, X, YouTube) and on the site's home page, a clip you have made public yourself, crediting your channel and linking to it. Only those clips are concerned: never a private clip, never a clip featuring a third party's image, voice or content. Purpose: making the service, and the channels it features, known. Legal basis: your consent (GDPR art. 6(1)(a)). Direct contact during early access. If you allow it, we may reach out to you first (email, Discord, direct message) to hear how it is going. Without it, we only reply when you write first, and you keep receiving the emails your account needs to work (analysis ready, billing, incidents), which do not fall under this consent. Legal basis: your consent (GDPR art. 6(1)(a)). Withdrawal and proof. Withdrawal is immediate and happens in the same place as the authorisation, with nothing to write to us. It applies going forward only: it does not make unlawful what was published while the authorisation was active. We keep a record of every authorisation and every withdrawal (date, purpose, version of the text shown) so that we can demonstrate the processing was lawful, as GDPR art. 7(1) requires. That record holds neither your email nor your username. You can obtain a copy of it from your data export.
5. Cookies
Apogia uses essential cookies for authentication and session management, and optional analytics cookies to understand how the platform is used. You can manage your cookie preferences via the cookie banner displayed on your first visit. Our public pages (home, blog, tools) also count visits without any cookie and without the banner: to tell two visitors apart within a single day, your IP address and browser are turned into an unreadable identifier using a secret key that is replaced every day. The old key is destroyed, so that identifier cannot recognise you from one day to the next, cannot follow you to other sites, and cannot build a profile. Your IP address itself is not kept. This audience measurement produces aggregate statistics only and is never combined with our other processing.
6. Storage and security
Apogia stores your data on secured servers within the European Union. We use encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Video files are stored on object storage (Cloudflare R2). The copy used for the analysis is deleted automatically when the analysis expires (30 days by default, longer depending on the plan or if you extend the analysis). A file you uploaded yourself stays in your space until you delete your account. The clips you rendered stay available until you delete them or delete your account.
7. Your rights (GDPR)
Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, delete, and port your personal data held by Apogia. You can also object to processing or request restriction. To exercise these rights, contact the Apogia team at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Google & YouTube API Services
Apogia's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. When you connect a YouTube channel, we request the youtube.upload scope to upload the clips you choose to your channel on your behalf, and the youtube.readonly scope to read the public performance metrics (such as view counts) of clips you published through Apogia. We use this YouTube data solely to provide and improve these features. We do not transfer or sell it, do not use it for advertising, and do not let humans read it except where required for security, to comply with the law, or with your explicit consent. YouTube data is retained only while your channel stays connected: you can disconnect your YouTube channel at any time from your settings, which revokes our access and deletes the associated tokens. By using the YouTube integration you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service.
